After seeing a demo of the Colorado state tax system I may be able to figure out a way to continue selling to my Colorado customers. Unfortunately only 7 home rule cities have joined the program which makes things more difficult, but at least we now have a free resource to let us know how much sales taxes to charge and what needs to be done to comply with that city or county tax code. At this point I don’t know when things will go live, but when that happens I will post here again. For now the plan is (once the system goes live) to have all Colorado customers choose a “request custom invoice” option before paying for their order. Then I can check the system to verify what sales taxes need to be charged and how to pay them. The final invoice will include those taxes. Does that make sense? I will post again here when I know more.
